MEDIA RELEASE: Jobs and Training are for Women too

The biggest losers from the 2014 Federal Budget cuts to vocational education and training are women. New measures announced favour male-dominated industries and will do little to help the 700,000 women who enrol in VET courses each year.

 

Women in Adult and Vocational Education (WAVE) will be lobbying the Federal Industry Minister, Ian Macfarlane and the Minister assisting the Prime Minister for Women, Senator Michaelia Cash, about the unfairness to women in the Federal Budget cuts to programs and new measures aimed to assist apprentices.

Where are the Female Trades Teachers?

Two of WAVE's active members undertook research for the 2014 AVETRA Conference.  This followed previous research around the work of the TAFE Teacher.  NSW Government funding at the time was focused on supporting women studying non-traditional trades.  This research looked at how female trades teachers could make a difference.   View the report...
