In a submission to the Inquiry into the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the Australian Department of Education and Training made a couple of bland comments about vocational education and training. There was an online submission page on the Department’s website for comments. Unfortunately the Department didn’t seek to involve or consult with us in WAVE.

The Assistant Minister for Vocational Education and Skills, Karen Andrews, spoke at the 20th Conference of Commonwealth Education Ministers, where she presented Australia’s approach for SDG4, focusing on technical and vocational education. Her speech reinforced Australia’s reputation for excellence in education and training. It appears the Assistant Minister has overlooked the current crisis in the sector. Here is her speech:
