Women in Adult and Vocational Education (WAVE) Thanks Minister Brendan O’Connor for His Leadership and Contributions to Gender Equity in VET

Women in Adult and Vocational Education (WAVE) extends its heartfelt thanks to Minister Brendan O'Connor for his exceptional work and leadership in addressing gender inequity within Australia's Vocational Education and Training (VET) system. As Minister O'Connor announces his retirement, WAVE acknowledges his significant contributions to advancing gender equity and driving critical reforms in the VET sector.

Under Minister O'Connor's leadership, the VET system has seen the start of transformative changes aimed at creating more inclusive and equitable opportunities for women. His dedication to championing gender equality and encouraging organisations like WAVE has been instrumental in shaping policies that support women's participation and success in VET pathways and careers. Minister O'Connor's efforts have laid a strong foundation for future progress in achieving gender equity in the sector.

Minister O'Connor and his office have fostered strong and positive relationships with WAVE, collaborating closely to address the unique challenges faced by women in VET. These partnerships have been vital in driving forward initiatives that empower women and create more inclusive educational environments. WAVE is deeply grateful for the Minister's commitment to listening to and working with stakeholders to ensure that women's voices are heard, and their needs are met.

As Minister O'Connor steps down, WAVE looks forward to continuing this essential work with the incoming Minister for Skills and Training.
